Varying Ambient Pressure

Pipe systems which have submerged pipes can experience large changes in local ambient pressure when the pipe elevation changes. This is due to varying hydrostatic pressure with elevation outside the pipe. This varying ambient pressure changes the meaning of gauge pressure each time the elevation changes.

AFT Fathom and AFT Impulse allow the user to specify how the ambient pressure changes with elevation. This allows for accurate predictions of gauge pressure inside the pipes.
