Limiting Goal Seek and Control Variables to a Desired Range

Applicable to: Arrow GSC Add-on Module , Fathom GSC Add-on Module When searching for a variable value that will yield a specified goal, GSC will investigate all possible variable values. There are some cases, however, where you may want to limit the range of investigation. An example might be using GSC to find the pump or fan/compressor speed to yield a defined goal. Pipe Elevations at a Reservoir

Specifying a pipe connected to a reservoir using a pipe depth will keep the pipe at a constant elevation relative to a changing liquid elevation. For a constant absolute pipe elevation, specify the connected pipe using pipe elevation.

Using Orthogonal Pipe Drawing in AFT Fathom 7.0

A new feature in AFT Fathom 7.0, orthogonal pipe drawing automatically inserts an intermediate vertex into a pipe and adjusts the length of the pipe segments to create a right angle graphical bend between the pipe end points. Orthogonal drawing can be turned on either from Options, Workspace Preferences Display Options tab, or quickly toggled on and off with the F4 key. By toggling orthogonal drawing on and off you can easily mix pipe drawing modes and even have drawing modes compliment each other. Using Zoom Select

The zoom select tool is a quick way to zoom into an area of interest. If you click the zoom select tool and draw your selection box the selected area will expand to fit the selection box. The drawn selection box will expand to fit your Workspace so that the magnification will will vary according to the size of the selection box and the area of the model selected. Using Animated Graphs in AFT Impulse

As will all AFT flow modeling software, AFT Impulse includes comprehensive graphing capabilities. Most users are familiar with the traditional time and profile graphs, the first graphing a selected parameter vs. time and the second vs. distance (along a selected flow path). Animated graph output provides a means to view both at the same time. To generate animated graphs all of the stations of the pipes in the flow path to be graphed must be saved. Setting the Workspace Size

All of AFT's piping system modeling software allows the user to set the Workspace size from the View menu. The Workspace Size window graphically displays the size of the Workspace as blocks. When a new model file is created the size is initially set to 1 x 1. If you're model is bigger than this, you'll need a bigger Workspace size. Before changing the Workspace size it's worthwhile to remember how it relates to the model size.
