A Pump Systems Matter educational tool.
PSIM is a free tool that is based on the powerful engine and interface of AFT Fathom.
For very small and simple systems where you need something better than a quick hand-calculation, PSIM offers you a good solution.
However, there are so many more capabilities available with AFT Fathom that would make PSIM look like a small pump for a fish tank if AFT Fathom were a large high-production pump for an industrial chemical process!
A PSIM Success Story
A Fiat Chrysler Automobiles engineer from the Dundee, Michigan plant downloaded the PSIM tool and quickly
realized it was a great start to a big project.
From PSIM, they were able to identify their major project goals and understood the necessity of using the full version of AFT Fathom. This began one of the more complex energy optimizations undertaken on process equipment at Chrysler.
As a result, they now save $194,000 a year in energy costs and were awarded a $200,000 rebate from their local power utility! While these massive energy savings and system operational benefits were determined with AFT Fathom, the groundwork for discovering this energy saving opportunity all started with PSIM.
