AFT Mercury is a powerful analysis tool to….
- Intelligently size your entire system
- Identify critical cost saving opportunities in your system design
- Determine the best possible pump size by automatically finding the most cost effective trade-off between pump and pipe sizes
- Understand what really drives your design
How does it work?
AFT Mercury is built on and includes all of the modeling tools and analysis capabilities of AFT Fathom (link here) so you can simulate your system in full detail. In addition, AFT Mercury uses IntelliFlow®, an advanced optimization engine combined with AFT Fathom’s powerful hydraulic solver to automatically determine the best possible pipe and equipment sizes. AFT Mercury evaluates the complex interaction of variables in your system design, revealing combinations of components that minimize cost.
With AFT Mercury you can…
- Reduce capital costs
- Reduce operating costs
- Achieve inherent system flow balance
- Determine true costs of variable frequency drives vs. control valves by comparing systems optimally sized for each case
- Insure performance requirements are met over multiple design cases
- Minimize weight and volume
- Use your existing AFT Fathom models

Output
- Provides a detailed listing of all costs by item, along with summaries by cost group (piping, pumps) and type (materials, installation, operation)
- Displays the optimized pipes by size and you can create an optimized scenario with these pipe sizes
- Active constraints for pipes and junctions are displayed, clearly indicating what's driving your design
Viewer
Share your models with anyone who may not need a full version of AFT Mercury. The Viewer is a free application that lets you:
- Open a model and view any of the windows (Workspace, Model Data, Output, Visual Report, Graph Results)
- Run the model and graph output data
- Print and export data
- You cannot edit an existing model or create new models with the Viewer.
