Sunset Date for Old Licensing Method Support
Posted: February 1st, 2010
Four years ago Applied Flow Technology replaced the token/Master Floppy disk and parallel port hardware key methods of licensing with USB key licensing, a move necessitated by developments in operating systems and computer hardware. Since that time we have been advising customers to migrate their token/Master Floppy disk and parallel port key licenses to USB keys, explaining that while the old methods may currently work, they are not compatible beyond Windows XP32; i.e they will not work with Windows XP64, Vista or Windows 7 or any of the related Windows Server operating systems.

The limits on compatibility for these old methods affect not only using them to run the software, but also our ability to support these old licensing methods. Accordingly, four years after having made this change we are announcing the end of support for token/Master Floppy disk and parallel port hardkey licensing effective April 1, 2010. This means, for example, that we will not be able to restore lost license tokens or disks or reconfigure or upgrade license tokens or parallel port hardkeys.

While the vast majority of license holders have migrated their licenses from these old methods to the current USB key licensing, from time to time we do hear from customers who are still running on one of the old methods. To these customers we repeat our recommendation that you migrate your license(s) as soon as possible to avoid interruption in your ability to run AFT software.

For those with AFT Arrow (and Arrow Modules), AFT Fathom (and Fathom Modules), AFT Impulse, AFT Mercury or AFT Titan licenses covered by current support, there is no charge for the USB key(s), only a nominal charge for shipping. If you have one of these products without current support or one of our utility products, there is a charge of $45 for a stand alone USB key or $120 for a USB network key plus shipping ($15 within the US, please contact for shipping charges to other locations).

Please also note that only current versions of the software will work with USB keys, with the exception of AFT Fathom where version 6.0 from release date February 8, 2006 and later will work with a USB key. If you have an older, non-USB key compatible version you will need to upgrade your license to a current version in order to migrate your license to USB key.

As always, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions at info@aft.com or by phone at 719-686-1000. Applied Flow Technology
