Platinum Pipe Award 2008
What better way to welcome in the new year than to announce the Platinum Pipe Award 2008. As in previous years, the Platinum Pipe Award recognizes excellence in piping and ducting system modeling using AFT software. The deadline for entries is May 30, 2008 and winners will be announced July 31, 2008.
A winner will be selected from each of three categories:
- Use of software features
- Model creativity/appearance
- Correlation to test/field data
Two software licenses will be awarded to the winner in each category. Licenses will be of the same type used for the entry. For example, a category winner based on an AFT Fathom model would receive two AFT Fathom licenses. One license will be awarded to the company owning the license and a second license to the individual making the entry. In addition, the licenses will be supplied with the first five years of Support, Upgrade & Maintenance, providing ongoing technical support, periodic updates and version upgrades.
Entry forms and additional information may be downloaded from AFT's website.
Training Activities Around the World
The last couple of months of 2007 were a busy time for training. In addition to our November flow modeling seminar here in Colorado, two seminars were held the same month in South Africa. One in Koeberg, South Africa (about 100 kilometers from Captown) and the second in Johannesburg, South Africa. In December two seminars were held in Canada, one at AMEC's offices in Vancouver and another at the offices of BBA (Breton, Banville & Associés) in Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Québec. distributor, Chempute, the first seminar will cover incompressible and transient flow modeling using AFT Fathom and AFT Impulse and will be held November 7-9 in Capetown. The second will cover incompressible, compressible and transient flow modeling using AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow and AFT Impulse and will be held November 12-15 in Johannesburg. The wide range of geography was matched by the range in subjects, with modeling using AFT Arrow, AFT Fathom and AFT Impulse covered over the various seminars.
If you'd like to hold an onsite AFT flow modeling seminar at your facility, please contact us us for additional information. To attend a seminar at AFT's offices in Colorado, please refer to the section below.
Tip of the Month - Generating a pump/system curve for a selected time step with Fathom XTS
System and Pump vs System curves always reflect the conditions at the first time step. To graph curves at a different time step, run the simulation to the time step of interest, then create a disconnected scenario from the View menu. Load this new scenario and use it to generate the system / pump vs system curve.
