Woodland Park, Colorado -- August 4, 2003 --

Applied Flow Technology’s leading piping system modeling and optimization software, AFT Fathom™ and AFT Mercury™, are now able to directly transfer pump operating point information to Intelliquip’s web-based pump selector, Intelliquip Selector™, via the Internet. Candidate pumps selected in the Intelliquip Selector can then be transferred back to AFT software and immediately evaluated in the system model, further enhancing engineers' ability to properly design and optimize piping systems.

With the click of a button, AFT Fathom or AFT Mercury users may transmit pump requirements (e.g., head, flow, NPSHA, pressure, temperature, etc.) determined by the piping system hydraulic analysis directly to Intelliquip online pump selectors. Using the selector's powerful search capabilities, pumps meeting the requirements are identified, including comprehensive performance curves which may be directly transferred back to AFT Fathom and AFT Mercury. Performance curve data is then immediately available to be used for pumps within the piping system model and to save in AFT pump databases. This data exchange link will be available to all pump manufacturers using the Intelliquip pump selector and to the engineers using and specifying these manufacturers' pumps.

Proper matching of pumps to system requirements is critical to piping system performance, energy reduction, reliability and life cycle cost. AFT Fathom and AFT Mercury are considered the leading tools in assisting the piping systems engineer to achieve this." said Trey Walters, P.E., President and Director of Software Development at AFT. "Adding the capability to exchange data with Intelliquip pump selectors is a logical extension of this capability and will enhance the effectiveness of both the piping system modeling software and the pump selector in helping engineers in this important area of piping system design."

“We are very excited to offer pump companies powered by our web-based Selector software the ability to seamlessly interface with AFT’s powerful products.” said Dave Brockway, President of Intelliquip. “This is what pipe system designers have been asking for; online access to their preferred pump companies’ intelligent selection tools from within AFT's applications. Rapid and accurate selections can be made with the resultant performance data automatically passed back to Fathom or Mercury. PACO Pumps and Johnston Pump will be the first of many pump companies to give AFT customers direct access to their sites.”

Latest releases of AFT Fathom and AFT Mercury with this new capability may be downloaded by license holders and free working demos are available here. Information about Intelliquip may be found at http://www.intelliquip.com.
