The Platinum Pipe Award recognizes excellence in piping and ducting system modeling using AFT software.

Submit your best project in one of the following categories:

  • Use of software features
  • Model creativity/appearance
  • Correlation to test/field data

Prizes:

Two AFT software licenses will be awarded for the winning entry in each category: one to the company who owns the software license used to develop the entered model and one to the individual making the winning entry. The license awards will be of the same type used to enter the contest. The winner may elect to apply a credit equal to the retail price of their award to the full retail purchase of any AFT software.

All entries must be submitted electronically and include the following: 

  • Completed Contest Entry Form (coming soon!) on this website or digitally signed Official Entry Form
  • Attach AFT software input file and associated AFT database information from a licensed version of AFT Arrow, AFT Fathom, AFT Impulse, AFT Mercury or AFT Titan (may be uploaded through Entry Form or submitted via email with entry)
  • Entries to the correlation to test/field data category must also include documentation describing the test/field data and a comparison to the corresponding model predicted data.

One model file may be used for entry to multiple categories. You may enter as many times as you wish [limited by number of licenses held], up to a maximum of ten entries for each software license type from any one license holder.

Entries must be received at AFT before November 2, 2012.

 


 

Official Platinum Pipe Award Contest Rules

Individuals submitting entries for Applied Flow Technology’s (AFT) Platinum Pipe Award must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in their home country. Entries must include a model file from a licensed version of AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, AFT Impulse, AFT Mercury or AFT Titan. Employees, and their immediate families, and contractors of AFT are not eligible. This contest is open to individuals residing in any AFT territory worldwide and is void where prohibited.

Entry Process:

All entries must be submitted online. A confirmation will be sent to the email address included with the entry, verifying that the entry has been received. AFT is not responsible for the loss of any entered material through computer failure or other means. Keep a copy of all submitted materials!

All entries must include the AFT software input file and AFT databases used in the model sufficient for the model to be run. Entries in the correlation to test/field data category must also include documentation describing the test/field data and a comparison to the corresponding model predicted data.

Entries will be accepted through November 2, 2012.

Categories:

One winner shall be selected from each of three categories:

  • Use of software features
  • Model creativity/appearance
  • Correlation to test/field data

The same model may be used for entry to multiple categories. The maximum number of entries into all categories from any license owner is ten for each license type (AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, AFT Impulse, AFT Mercury, and AFT Titan).

Winners:

Individual winners will be contacted via email between the week of December 17, 2012. Winners will have one week to respond and confirm eligibility. If after one week, winner has not verified their eligibility, AFT reserves the right to award the prize to another entrant. After confirming winners’ eligibility, winners will be announced on aft.com, in the AFT Pipeline (e-newsletter) and via press release on or before January 31, 2013. Prizes:

Two AFT software licenses, of the same type used to enter the contest, shall be awarded to the winner in each category: one to the company who owns the software license used to develop the entered model file and one to the individual making the entry. Each license shall include a software CD and the usual manuals and other documentation provided with AFT software licenses. In lieu of a license or licenses, winners may elect to apply a credit equal to the retail price of the awarded license or licenses to the the full retail purchase of any AFT software. Winners shall be selected by and at the sole discretion of AFT. If no entries in a particular category are qualified to receive the award, AFT reserves the right to not award a prize in that category. Award decisions are final.


Odds of winning depend on the number and quality of entries received. All taxes, including income taxes, duties, customs, handling fees, or other charges are the sole responsibility of winners.

By entering this contest, you agree that AFT may publicize your name, company name, and the description of work you did to enter the contest, even if you do not win. You agree that you are permitted to make this decision on behalf of the company that owns the AFT license, if it is not your own individual license, which you used to complete your work. Apart from the prizes associated with being selected as a winner, AFT shall not be obligated to compensate you in any way for such publicity.
